Ghost River Brewing is suspending their tours while doubling its capacity and installing a twelve head bottle filler to begin packaging twelve ounce bottles. You can read the entire article on the Commerical Appeal website. After reading this article we had to stop in and pickup a growler off the docks to find out when bottles will be available in stores. They hinted that the plan is to start bottling toward the end of summer. And what growler did we pickup? A new special limited quantity beer brewed to honor this years Memphis in May Salute to Belgium.
Ghost River Witbier
This beer is fast and easy to pour and creates a beautiful short head like a white fluffy cloud. And just like finding shapes in the clouds right when you are ready to show someone else the head disappears. The color is close to a golden summer sun right before dusk. It is cloudy enough that you can’t see through it, and has a ever so faint amount of effervescence. The first thing you notice is its smooth clean crisp flavor which is very common among all the beers from Ghost River. This comes from the incredible good water from the Memphis Sands Aquifer tapped in 1887 (There is no coincidence that they have beer called the 1887 IPA). One thing we noticed is their are hints of Coriander and Orange right as you tongue becomes saturated. A very subtle taste of Belgium yeast, and it has a light bitter finish. We would like to leave you with this piece of advice. When you order this beer in restaurant; let it sit. When the wait staff comes by and asks you if anything is wrong, you can start drinking it (assuming that your staff is attentive).
